The Physics of a Home run
Our second project was to make a video, showing the physics behind a certain sport. Our video was about baseball and how to hit a home run. In our video, we showed multiple home runs being hit, but found the calculations for just one. It was challenging, but interesting to actually find out the physics behind a home run. Baseball players could learn a lot of information by watching this video.
Concepts
Vertical Velocity(how fast the ball travels upward): We found this by using the formula V=1/2a(acceleration)t(time). The vertical velocity of the ball was 20.874 m/s
Horizontal Velocity(This rate is constant): The horizontal velocity of the ball was 14.31 m/s
Total Velocity(The total speed of the ball in a given direction): We used the equation V(horizontal)^2+V(vertical)^2=V(total)^2 and got 25.31 m/s
Force(The amount of push or pull on the ball): We found the force by using m(mass)v(velocity)=F(force)t(time) and got 8,015.82 N
Distance(How far the ball traveled): We found that the ball traveled 60.9 meters
Horizontal Velocity(This rate is constant): The horizontal velocity of the ball was 14.31 m/s

Reflection:
This project was very cool and interesting. I liked it because it was about sports and we our video on my favorite sport, baseball. Although we finished our video on time and that it turned out good, there were some difficulties during the process. Filming was a struggle because we filmed the first home run wrong, and then we could not hit another home run for a few days. It also took us a few days to finish the voice overs. Our group did not get along that well. There was a lot of yelling and bossing around. However, we did complete our video on time and it was good. It was informational and humorous at the same time.
During this project, I learned how to make and edit movies on the computer. I also learned about the physics of my favorite sport, and how I can use this information to help improve my skills. I thought I could have improved on my productivity. I got distracted very easily, since we were working with computers, and that affected my production towards the project and it made my group members angry. I thought overall, the project was OK. Something I will work on next project is to be productive and cooperative. If I am not cooperating and being productive, things get crazy and bad. That is what happened in this project, and I do not want it to happen in my next project.
